Land use models describe the function of land and attempt to explain the social organisation of cities. Large urban areas tend to have a number of land use zones ranging from high density residential areas through to industrial zones and with the Burgess Model these urban social structures are concentric. Whilst the unchanging nature of this monocentric cityscape has been challenged by urban geographers, WHAT_architecture wondered if the Burgess model could be applied albeit at a far reduced scale: as a master plan for a retirement village?
